Diagrams and PDF export
The pattern editor can place any of your saved crochet diagrams and knit charts on the page, and export the finished page as a PDF to print or send.
Adding a diagram
Section titled “Adding a diagram”- Select Add diagram on the left rail. The Insert diagram dialog lists your saved diagrams, newest first, each marked Crochet or Knit.
- Choose a diagram. It opens in a view-only preview, framed on the whole diagram.
- To use only part of the diagram, drag a rectangle around the area you want.
- In Export options, choose what to include:
- Background grid — include the canvas grid.
- Guides — include guide lines and circles (crochet diagrams with guides only).
- Round/order labels (crochet) or Row/column labels (knit) — include the numbers.
- Transparent background — no background behind the diagram.
- Quality — 1×, 2×, or 3×.
- Select Use this view. The diagram is placed on the page as a picture you can move and resize like any other box.
If StitchPress reports that the selection is too large to insert, choose a lower Quality or a smaller area.
Updating a diagram
Section titled “Updating a diagram”A diagram in a pattern is a snapshot — a picture of the diagram at the moment you inserted it. Later changes to the diagram do not appear in the pattern automatically.
To bring a diagram up to date:
- Right-click the diagram on the page and choose Refresh from diagram.
- The framing view opens again with your previous area and options already set. Adjust them if you need to.
- Select Use this view. The new picture replaces the old one in the same position and size.
Refresh uses the latest saved version of the diagram. If the diagram has grown well beyond the area you framed before, adding it again with Add diagram may be easier than adjusting the old frame.
Exporting a PDF
Section titled “Exporting a PDF”- Select Export PDF at the bottom right of the editor.
- Your browser’s print dialog opens. Choose Save as PDF as the destination (or pick a printer to print directly).
- Save the file.
The PDF contains your page exactly as laid out, at US Letter size, without the selection outlines and handles you see while editing. Anything you dragged past the edge of the page is cut off.
