Exporting and sharing
When your chart is ready, you can save any part of it as an image, generate a stitch legend and written row-by-row instructions, or share it with other people.
Exporting an image
Section titled “Exporting an image”- Select Export range (the download icon) at the right end of the header tray.
- Drag a rectangle across the part of the chart you want. The rectangle snaps outward to whole cells. Press Esc to cancel.
- In the Export options panel, choose what to include:
- Background grid — include the canvas grid behind the chart.
- Row/column labels — include the row and column numbers.
- Transparent background — export with no background instead of white.
- Quality — 1×, 2×, or 3×. A higher setting produces a larger, sharper image.
- Select Download PNG.
Selections, hover previews, and warning highlights are never included in the image. The canvas background color you chose in the settings menu is not exported either — the image background is white unless you turn on Transparent background.
Every exported image carries a small StitchPress badge in its bottom-right corner, along with an invisible watermark that identifies the chart and the account that exported it.
Stitch legend and written instructions
Section titled “Stitch legend and written instructions”Two items in the Settings gear menu turn your chart into text:
- Stitches used opens a legend of every stitch type in the chart, with its symbol — handy to place alongside the chart in a pattern.
- Generate text opens Pattern text: written instructions, one line per row, starting from Row 1 at the bottom and reading each row from right to left — for example, Row 1: Purl 3, Knit (bar) 2. Colored stitches include their color code. Select Copy to copy the text.
Blank cells and gaps are left out of both.
Sharing a chart
Section titled “Sharing a chart”Knit charts are shared exactly like crochet diagrams. Select Share in the header tray (or Share from the ⋯ menu on the chart’s card) to create a view-only link or invite people by email. People you share with see the chart in a read-only view: they can pan, zoom, and open Stitches used and Generate text, but they cannot change anything.
For the full walkthrough, see Sharing your diagrams.
Using a chart in a pattern
Section titled “Using a chart in a pattern”To place a chart in a written pattern, open the pattern editor and use Add diagram. The chart is inserted as an image, using the same export options as above.
